Timeless on Flickr.
There is an enduring and timeless quality to old glass. Bottles like these should be recycled, not in the traditional sense of tossing them in a yellow bucket, but artistically or even for their original purpose. I would recommend a good washing first.

The bodyboard kept me on my toes but I was not expecting to find a keyboard.

Gap on Flickr.
I wonder if a gap like this would cause a train to derail. Such an event would probably end very badly considering the location.

West Side Rail Yards on Flickr.
The MTA yelled at us and called the cops. The cops responded to the MTA with a STFU. Of course, we did get permission beforehand. Had we not, I image being escorted out, possibly in handcuffs. But then, a Friends of the High Line rep was escorting us so I’m sure it would have turned out well.

Right around 33rd Street, the wild grass just stops and a slightly newer track has yet to be reclaimed by nature.

The extra chain link fence I can understand, but I’m at a loss for the bodyboard.

Sunrise on Flickr.
Friends of the High Line invited me and a few other photographers to come out on the third and final section of the High Line before construction is to begin next month and take some pictures. We met up at 8AM so we caught some great early morning light. I was surprised how quickly the shadow of the Empire State Building’s spire was moving. I actually had to run to get in position because it was moving as quickly was I would walk.

My name is Oliver Rich, a 22 year old photographer that needs to get out more. Usually you can find me in New York, either out on Long Island or in the city so expect most of my source material to be coming from there. As for a main subject that I shoot, landscape is probably the word to use. Although, I very much like shooting other subjects such as fashion, concerts, sailing, various social events, the occasional gaming conference, and light painting.
