Spring Has Arrived on Flickr.
The High Line is one of my favorite places to take photos in New York City. Every time I go there it’s that little bit different. It being almost spring, everything is starting to bud as winter comes to an end. In a few weeks it should be really great when it all starts to blossom. I’ve also always loved crocuses. The neighborhood where I live in the suburbs has a few places of open area where the entire place is filled with the many colours of crocuses.
I specifically went up to the High Line this time trying to capture images of Spring on the High Line. I got up there at 30th Street at about 1:30 and didn’t get off at Gansevoort Street until about 4:30 so I got to notice quite a lot of detail. My only problem was that for some areas around the 10th Avenue theater, the sun was already low in the sky so the adjacent building shadows were over the park, making for not ideal photography conditions. I’ll be heading back in on Thursday, earlier in the day to shoot that area again. I’m expect the place to look very different now that the Spring Cutback has begun.

My name is Oliver Rich, a 22 year old photographer that needs to get out more. Usually you can find me in New York, either out on Long Island or in the city so expect most of my source material to be coming from there. As for a main subject that I shoot, landscape is probably the word to use. Although, I very much like shooting other subjects such as fashion, concerts, sailing, various social events, the occasional gaming conference, and light painting.
