Dawn Bodnant Viburnum on Flickr.
Viburnum has always been one of my favorite Spring blooms. It has such a potent sweet smell to it. There are these large viburnum bushes at my college that fill the air with their scent every Spring. I think they are my second favorite, smell wise, after Paperwhites.

Poker on Flickr.
Another shot from around campus. These chairs and table have been sitting up on one of the loading docks for a while now. I’m guessing facilities or someone in the shop comes out here occasionally to take a break or play some poker.

Boynton on Flickr.
Went on another photography hike around the campus yesterday. The sky was horrible to shoot with but the light provided good contrast. Mike followed me around which was really nice. Having a second set of eyes to critique and point out other potential photos is a great thing to have, plus having a conversation partner is great as well.
This photo is of Boynton Hall, the administration building on campus. The original photo was looking up the length of the building and had lots of sky in it which looked horrible, so a little selective cropping, tweak the levels, and great photo (I think anyways). The buildings on campus are all brick, expect Boynton which is stone, and most all of them have vines growing up their side. When I stayed on campus during the summer after my first year, I spent an afternoon wandering around campus taking photos of all the vines. They really make for some great photography. They get so thick in some parts you cant see the brick beneath, its just a giant green carpet consuming the building. The vines are something I’m going to miss about this place after I leave.

Colourful Campus on Flickr.
There is this nice little group of flowers in the corner of a planting bed on campus. It’s a rather random location and grouping so I’m guessing that someone was planting bulbs around campus, set them down, and either forgot they were there or didn’t know what else to do with them. I pass by it every day and the colour is a nice addition to my mornings. I remember when I was a kid helping my mom plant the gardens I did something similar. I left a pile of bulbs I was going to finish spreading out in the rest of the garden on the side and forget about them. A few weeks later, this massive group of plants sprout out of the ground in one spot. Every year I’m reminded of that whenever they sprout out of the ground again.

In Want of a Splash on Flickr.
I’m sad that they haven’t turned on the fountain yet. It’s been a perfect week for it. Though the weather report says it’s supposed to get cooler next week.

My name is Oliver Rich, a 22 year old photographer that needs to get out more. Usually you can find me in New York, either out on Long Island or in the city so expect most of my source material to be coming from there. As for a main subject that I shoot, landscape is probably the word to use. Although, I very much like shooting other subjects such as fashion, concerts, sailing, various social events, the occasional gaming conference, and light painting.
